Winter is well and truly here, but don’t let the cold fool you. July still has plenty going on, from cultural festivals and film screenings to foodie events and illuminated outdoor experiences.

Here’s my pick of what’s on in Perth this July.

NAIDOC Week

Across Perth | 5-12 July | Free (most events)

NAIDOC Week is one of Australia’s most important annual celebrations, recognising the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In 2026, it also marks a milestone: 50 years of NAIDOC Week celebrations.

Across Perth you’ll find free community events, cultural performances, exhibitions, workshops, markets and family activities. Many local councils also host their own celebrations, making it easy to find something close to home. You can also find a range of museum events here.

Revelation Perth International Film Festival

Multi-venues | 8-19 July | Ticketed 

If your Netflix recommendations are starting to feel a bit repetitive, Revelation Film Festival might be exactly what you need.

Celebrating independent cinema from around the world, the festival showcases feature films, documentaries, short films and plenty of productions you probably won’t see in mainstream cinemas. Screenings take place at venues including Luna Leederville and The Backlot, with filmmaker Q&As and special events throughout the festival.

Good Food & Wine Show

Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre | 17-19 July | Ticketed 

Calling all foodies. The Good Food & Wine Show returns to the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre with hundreds of exhibitors offering tastings from local wineries, distilleries, artisan producers and gourmet brands.

There are also cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs, masterclasses, wine tastings and plenty of opportunities to discover your next favourite cheese, sauce or dessert. Get your tickets here.

Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest Experience

Jorgensen Park, Kalamunda | Throughout July | Ticketed

Whether you’re a lifelong Harry Potter fan or simply looking for something a little different, this outdoor experience is worth considering. I’ve only heard great feedback about how immersive and well put together it is. 

It’s set within the bushland of Jorgensen Park in Kalamunda, you’ll wander through an illuminated forest trail featuring creatures, interactive displays and scenes inspired by the Harry Potter series. More information and tickets are available here.

If you enjoyed Lightscape at Kings Park (which I mentioned in last month’s blog), this offers a similar winter evening experience. Just remember to wrap up!

Leederville Comedy Club: One Hour Comedy Show

Need a laugh during these gloomy winter evenings?

The Leederville Comedy Club hosts regular one-hour comedy shows featuring a mix of local comedians and visiting acts. It’s affordable, doesn’t require committing your entire evening, and pairs nicely with dinner or drinks before or afterwards.

Christmas in July

Who says Christmas can only be celebrated in December?

Throughout July, many Perth restaurants, pubs and hotels embrace the cooler weather with Christmas in July dinners featuring roast meats, mulled wine and festive desserts. There’s even a dedicated website listing events across Perth, so head here to find one near you. 

Cabin Fever Festival

Margaret River Region | 17-26 July | Mix of free & ticketed 

If you’re looking for an excuse to escape the city for a weekend, Cabin Fever Festival is back in the Margaret River region this July.

The festival celebrates everything we love about winter, with long lunches, winery events, live music, bonfires, beer, wine and local produce across venues throughout the South West.

Some events sell out well in advance, so it’s worth checking the program here if you’re thinking of making the trip.
